IMU-DNS Course.
Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) The one-year DNS Course is a course leading to a B.Sc.(Applied Nautical Science) after 18 months of sea service and also leading to 2nd Mate Foreign going Certificate of Competency awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, enabling the cadets to become Navigating officers on board Merchant Navy Ships anywhere in the world. The one-year Diploma in Nautical Science Course is strictly residential.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Educational Qualifications:
Candidate should have passed in HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects with a
PCM average of not less than 60%.
Or
Candidate possessing B.Sc. Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Electronics with Physics as an individual subject in one of the years, with an average of not less than 60% of marks in the final year.
Or
Candidate possessing B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE The candidate has to appear and qualify in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU). For further details on CET and IMU, visit http://www.imu.edu.in/.
Age Limit – Maximum 25 years of age as of 1st of January or 1st of August.
Physical Standards – Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.
Eyesight – Candidates have to Qualify for a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department before being finally selected for the course. They should have 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and should be free from color blindness. IMU-CAMPUSES Intake Capacity at (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Cochin.)
